FAQ

What is 3d printing?

3d printing is an additive manufacturing technique that allows for small batch production without the overhead of tooling costs. Two popular forms of 3d printing include Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Stereolithography (SLA) where the former typically involves melting plastic filament in a controlled manner and the latter uses photosensitive resins to build up a three-dimensional object, one layer at a time.

FilaForge uses FDM printing for its products.

Why is my order taking so long?

Orders are processed in the sequence they come in. Custom requests require more time than standard products as designs must be modeled or altered in CAD software before printing may proceed. Products with in-stock inventory may ship sooner than those that have yet to be finished. Most orders will not ship until all items are ready to be sent together except in extenuating circumstances.

The nature of 3d printing takes time to complete as objects are constructed a single layer at a time at fractions of a millimeter each.

Orders will be shipped as soon as possible, however delays in shipping may occur during periods of high demand.

Additionally, we are a very small business, so design, maintenance, product finishing, and shipping preparation are performed in house by 1-2 people. We hope you understand.

How do I install my purchase?
